Consequences

Discipline Conferences:

All Scouts are to follow the Troop’s Conduct Guidelines and Rules.  An infraction of the guidelines may result with the Scout receiving a warning from an adult leader.  After three warnings of minor infractions or one warning of severe infraction (i.e., harming others, dangerous behaviors, theft, violation of laws), the Scoutmaster will convene a Discipline Conference.  The Scout will be suspended from Troop activities until his/her conference.

The Scout, his/her parents, the Scoutmaster and the Committee Chair will attend the conference.  The parents are there as observers only.  The Scout’s behavior and future with the Troop will be discussed.  The Scout will be required to reread the Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Agreement and reaffirm his/her cooperation with that agreement by resubmitting a signature page.

In addition, immediate consequences of the Discipline Conference may be one or more of the following:

  1. Probation.  Parents must accompany the Scout at all Troop activities.
  2. Advancement is suspended.
  3. Loss of leadership position.
  4. Loss of special privileges, i.e., outings such as ski trips, rafting, etc.
  5. Suspension from camp outs.

Continued participation in Troop meetings is advised during probation and suspension.  The next infraction of the rules may result in dismissal from the Troop after a second Discipline Conference.

  1. Immediate dismissal from the Troop.

Discipline of the Adults:

In addition to the Guidelines and Rules imposed on the Scouts:

  1. Foul or abusive language directed toward any Scout or the Troop will not be tolerated.  You will have a conference with the Scoutmaster and the committee to discuss the matter.
  2. Dismissal of adults will be voted on by the committee.
  3. No inappropriate touching, unwanted advances/actions or words.
  4. Adults that are a disruption to the Troop program will be asked to not come on outings, camp outs, or meetings until their behavior is corrected.  If the problem persists, further action will be taken, and can lead up to the dismissal of parent or the whole family if things cannot be resolved.
  5. Adults with discipline problems at Troop activities, including tree lot, will be sent home immediately and may not return until a meeting can be established with the committee.
  6. Adults need to set an example for the Scouts.
